Who Benefits from Our Services?
WSUC's primary target population is street and working children, but
other children in marginalized conditions are also allowed in the
programme. The children are referred by friends, family or other
agencies.
WSUC offers a range of activities to the children including education,
recreation, social skills and self development. Prevocational activities
and school placement services are also provided with requsite assistance
with uniforms and shoes.
WSUC aims to increase children's awareness in the areas of child rights
and the environment, thereby enabling the children to develop a sense of
community participation and personal responsibility.
WSUC believes that parents and communities are integral to the programme
and thus undertakes to provide a variety of outreach programmes to
enhance a nurturing environment for children.
As They See It - Children
" 'Give it to me!' the words still ring in my ears, as a lady took the
knife I brought to stab my brethren. She did not war with me, she sat
me down and showed me a different way. I told her everything since
then, I call her mom."
"At WSUC, we learn to live good with each other and achieve in life."
"WSUC is more than parents."
As They See It - Parents
"If it weren't for WSUC, my big son could not go through High School.
He passed 5 subjects and is working. I am proud of him and thankful
for the help from rags to riches."
"WSUC is a place to go to share your problems, they teach us how
to stretch what we have and how to understand and deal with our
children.
